Cheeba feat. Bilal

Cheeba feat. Bilal from Plug Research on Vimeo.

I am so happy I came across this video by an artist I have been listening to on rotation since I got the album. The album beautifully represents…”the balance between spirituality/ancient Egyptian roots and Hollywood perversions…”.

Directed by Kahlil Joseph, the video showcases a melody of three songs from Shafiq’s album, Shafiq En’ A-Free-Ka.

Check out these artists today – Shafiq Husayn and The Sa-Ra Creative Partners.

MJ: King of Pop

Can you believe it’s already been a year since the death of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Last year, Michael Jackson passed away at the age of 50. His death came to a shock to many of his family and friends despite health concerns within earlier months. The King of Pop had encountered quite a bit of negative coverage in the media in the latter years of his career. However, despite his court cases, and growing debts, he still held the heart of hundreds and thousands of fans not just in America, but around the world.

Toy Story 3

Toy Story 3 is finally out in theaters. While the animated film appeals to the kids, Toy Story 3 definitely appeals to the kid in all of us, including adults. It’s a great movie that continues the storyline of Andy’s toys, Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and the crew, as I call them. Toys that have been with Andy since he was as a kid. Continue reading

iPhone 4

With Apple coming out with a new iPhone every year around June and sometimes in September, it makes you either give into evil consumerism, or resist, learning to be content with the iPhone you have, or further reinforces why you refuse to partake in the iPhone hoopla. For me, I admit, I often fall victim to the Apple new gadgets. I did manage to keep the original iPhone from 2007 for 2 years. And then after 2 and half years, I couldn’t resist the temptations from Apple with all their updates. Around Christmas of this year, I bought the 3GS, knowing that the iPhone 4 would probably be out around June. And sure enough, the new iPhone is out, and my eyes immediately lit up like a kid in a candy story when I saw the email. Video Chat? Multitasking? HD Video Recording and Editing? On the iPhone 4?! Yes! I’ve feel like I’m being drawn back in. I mean, what can I say, they added some great new features. However, as tempting as it is to go buy the new iPhone, I think I’m going to have to pass, until the iPhone 5 (we know it’s coming….eventually). This is what keeps consumers like me, eternally attached to Apple. Every time you wanna be mad at Apple because of their prices, they turn around and hit you with some tight free updates,  or new products like the iPad and you be like “Alright, I can’t stay mad forever. And you do stay hooking me up with the free updates throughout the year, CONSISTENTLY” lol. But for real, I won’t be buying the iPhone 4. I just happen to have a personal rule: have to wait at least two years before buying a new iPhone….none of that buying something new just because it’s super appealing, when I have one that works fine. However, I certainly will be connecting my current 3GS to my MacBook on June 24 to get those tight FREE updates. But if you are interested in getting the new iPhone, you’ll definitely be in for a treat. There a lot of great new features for those of you buying the iPhone 4, or for those of you who will be doing like me: partaking in the regular updates over our computers. Either way, check out the new features out for yourself on www.apple.com/iphone.

The Journey…

Throughout college, I was always nervous and scared to explore other areas of interest outside of what my friends and family expected of me. That was partially my fault because I allowed my fears of what other people would say stop me from exploring and developing my other passions. However, at the beginning of 2009, I decided that I was going to pursue my other dreams, and not be deterred by what my friends and family might say. Rather than assuming they would say negative things, I was determined to live my life explore the things that make me happy. Continue reading
